DB Schenker Logistics in Singapore has celebrated its 40th anniversary during which time the company has grown from being the first European air freight forwarder to serve South Asia to become an integrated logistics provider, with a team of more than 1,250 employees. Highlights include a 1998 investment of $.29 million to set up the multifunctional Schenker Logistic Centre. The DB Schenker Megahub was established in 2006. Located within the Free Trade Zone, it is the biggest freight and logistics facility in the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore. These flagship facilities from the basis of the company's logistics hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
The year 2007 proved to be another milestone in the development of Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd., when in May of that year the BAX Global Pte Ltd's Singapore office successfully merged operations with DB Schenker Logistics there. The successful history of our subsidiary is a good example, a role model for other countries, in all growth regions throughtout the world, said Dr. Thomas Liab, Chairman of the Board of Management at Schenker AG and responsible for global air and ocean freight.
